A tragic incident has unfolded in Nadabo village, Tafawa Balewa LGA, Bauchi State, where a 25-year-old woman, Salamatu Danjuma, allegedly stabbed her husband to death during a heated argument over child custody.
According to a statement from Bauchi State Police Command spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, the couple had been struggling with marital issues, particularly regarding the custody of Salamatu’s six-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
“Initially, the family had agreed to welcome the child into the home, but the husband later changed his mind, leading to increased tension,” the police statement revealed.
On February 24, 2025, their disagreement took a deadly turn when Salamatu, frustrated by her husband's refusal, grabbed a knife during an argument and fatally stabbed him in their bedroom.
Police detectives from Bununu Divisional Headquarters responded swiftly to a distress call and rushed the victim to Cottage Hospital in Bununu, but medical personnel later confirmed his death due to the severity of his injuries.
The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to carry out a thorough investigation into the case.
